I've hardly looked at the computer for the past month, but I am now back. February was a busy month of babysitting/housesitting, which was fun and well worth it, but busy. First we stayed with my siblings for a few days, then the next week we started at Mark and Chris Smoot's home for 8 days. The last day we were there, I picked up the bad cold/flu stuff that's been going around. After 9 days of feeling absolutely miserable - fever and chills, achey all over, really sore throat and cough, ringing in my ears, pounding in my head, difficulty breathing, and so worn out I could barely get out of bed all day, yet I could hardly sleep at night. Sorry for the lengthy description of "miserable." Anyhow, I went into the doctor last Friday and found of that I had pneumonia. The doctor said he thought I ought to spend a couple of days in the hospital with how sick I was (besides being miserable, my oxygen level was really low and my heartrate was really high) and being pregnant. So instead of going home, I continued on to the hospital where I stayed for 3 days. They gave me tons of antibiotics, lots of fluid via IV, put me on oxygen for a little while, monitored the baby a couple of times a day, and took lots of blood samples and x-rays. I certainly don't love being in a hospital, especially the part where they turn the light on and come take your blood pressure at 2 in the morning. That is so silly to me - hello someone with pneumonia needs sleep a lot more than a blood pressure check every 4 hours. I was so happy to be able to leave the hospital and come home to my little family on Monday. But I was also really greatful for the help I got while being in the hospital. I felt soooo much better when I left than when I went in, and I am continuing to feel better and better. I am also really greatful that this little baby has continued to do well through my sickness - her heart rate has been normal every time they've monitored and she's moving lots. I'm also greatful for so many thoughtful friends and family. Especially for my parents who took the kids with them to St. George this week so that I could make sure to get plenty of rest to fully recover, and for my sister Bek who was also going to help watch the kids while down there. I miss my little ones. I'm not used to being a way from them, and especially not twice so close together - in the hospital and now in St. George. But I know they're having a blast, and it's been so good for me to have a break so I don't overdo it and for Nate and I to spend some time together. Thanks Mom & Dad!
