Stuck

While getting ready for bed and cleaning up tinkertoys, Sam and Natalie decided to try climbing in the bucket. A minute later I heard Sam scream and turned around to find that he was panicking because he was stuck in the bucket and couldn't get out.

Birds

Nate, Sam, and Natalie have been having all sorts of fun building perches for the birds out of tinkertoys. It's pretty cute.

Vaseline Hair

The other day my mom was telling my sister and me about someone who's kid put vaseline in his hair and it was so impossible to get it out that she decided to just shave his hair. Well, within 10 minutes of telling that story, Natalie happened upon some vaseline that was out on my mom's counter, and guess where it went. Yep, right in her hair. I looked online and saw that cornstarch is supposed to help get it out. So here's Natalie with her white cornstarch hair. It helped, but her hair was a little greasy for a few days.

Passing Out & Butter Lovers

I remember being intrigued by people that would faint/pass out when I was a kid. Then one day I realized that I was "one of them." My mom had taken Em and me to the doctor to have our warts removed. However, it was a little hard to get Em to take her turn in the chair after she saw her sister's eyes roll back and she fell over dead, or so Em thought.
Today I had to get my blood drawn for pregnancy tests and after waiting for my slow blood for a couple of minutes, awoke to the nurse telling me she needed to try the other arm since she couldn't get any more after I passed out. Strange feeling - it's really not much fun.
As for Butter Lovers, Natalie LOVES butter. Tonight she had her fingers in it as soon as it was on the table, had a time out, and we went on with dinner. After dinner, we didn't move the butter quite soon enough before Natalie grabbed a handful, ran under the table and shoved a walnut size chunk in her mouth. Gross! I admit I wasn't able to keep the parental straight face this time, but broke into laughter.

Goofy Kids

Intent "Super-Why" watchers. I just missed getting them naturally posed exactly the same way with their head resting on their hands.
Sammy and Natty decided to dress up wierd together with clothes out of Sam's swimming, etc. drawer. Of course Sam's also making a funny face as is his in 70% of our pictures.

Samuel moments:
  • One morning we were all sitting at the table for breakfast, Nate eating, me eating, and Natalie eating, when Sam all of a sudden asked "Do I get any food?" It was pretty funny to realize we had forgotten about him, content with our own food. Actually I had asked him what he wanted when I first started getting food out and he didn't want to choose anything at the time, so then I forgot.

  • After we agreed that our little orphan could have some breakfast with the rest of the family and poured him a bowl of life cereal, he picked up one piece that was 2 squares stuck together and said "Look: It's a Book of Mormon."

  • Natalie, Sam, and I gave Nate a world wall map for Christmas. They helped me buy it, wrap it, and then we talked about keeping it a secret. But...sometimes secrets don't last. They really wanted to put Dad's present under the tree, so I consented and of course Dad noticed as soon as he came home and said "I think I know what it is." Sammy in his innocence said "I know what you're going to say - that it's a map."

  • Sam has started to tell us every so often that he "feels good in his heart" while doing something like family home evening, as we've mentioned before. Recently he again told us he "felt good in his heart" while singing songs in primary. When we asked what songs, expecting something like "Away in a Manger," we thought it was pretty funny to hear the answer "Once There Was a Snowman."

  • Sam loved the count-down to Christmas and is so sad that our chain is no more. One night a week or so before Christmas as Nate carried an already sleeping Samuel to bed, he opened his eyes and asked "Is it Christmas?"

Natalie moments:

  • Natalie loves to call Sam "Sammy brother," as I do when I'm talking about him to her. However, Sam recently decided he doesn't like that and will reply in an annoyed tone "I'm not Sammy brother, I'm Samuel Nathan May." Natalie, sweet sister, has tried to break the habit, and has even corrected me a couple of times.

  • Natalie also corrects me when I call her the wrong name. Sometimes when tucking her in I'll say something like "good night sweet pea," to which she'll respond "No sweet pea. Natalie."

  • When asked what her full name is, Natalie will often say "Natalie Nathan May," until reminded that it's Natalie Anne May.

  • I told Natalie not to take any of the treats on Grandma and Grandpa's counter tonight until she ate her dinner, but of course she snuck one and then hid under the counter to eat it. However, afterwards she came to me and said "Sorry treat no dinner Mommy." She can be such a little sweetie.

Merry Christmas 2007

So fun to awake to a gorgeous snowy scene for Christmas!

Our Little Family up at Grandma and Grandpa Millers on Christmas Day. I must admit we've been spending about as much time up there as we have at home the past couple of weeks while Em and the Prisbreys have been there.

Sammy and Natty taking turns opening presents and looking at them together. They really did really well.

Sammy with his two-headed dragon and Natalie with her sleeping bag back pack. I think Christmas is great with kids 2 and 4 years old; they're old enough to be really excited about it, but not old enough to expect too much. I think Sam's favorite presents were that two-headed dragon that I got for $3 and a wallet from Aunt Emmy.
